On Thursday March 4th, the Pollocksville Town Hall was lifted onto hydraulic trestles and driven by an iPad down Main Street to its new home at 314 Main Street. During Hurricane Florence, the Historic Train Depot was flooded up to the roof line, resulting in a total loss of the Town's administrative center and its local museum. On March 4th, the Town Hall's flood risk was effectively mitigated by retreating from the floodplains onto a grassy knoll along Main Street. In a feat of modern technology, Duke Power and Wolfe Construction transported the old timber structure to a new home in under an hour. Afterwards, Waters Construction hosted a community pig pickin' in appreciation of the workers who have labored to make this day possible, and who will continue to restore the functions and beauty of Pollocksville.
